If you have checked out a lot of sites, you have probably encountered some error message now and again. An error could occur in case the web server cannot process a request (Error 400), if you need to log in in order to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you are not permitted to access some webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file that is not on the web server (Error 404). Receiving this sort of messages could sometimes be aggravating since the pages don't have anything in common with the actual Internet site. That’s why some hosting providers allow you to apply your own error pages that will match the design of your own site and which can have any content that you want - information why the error has taken place, a suggestion how to proceed or even some funny comment. Such a function will help you keep the visitor on the site irrespective of the error and the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Web Hosting
You can set up custom made error pages for all of your domains or subdomains. The function is supported by all web hosting
plans that we provide, so as soon as you log in to your Hepsia Control Panel and visit the Hosted Domains section, you can click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up that"ll be displayed, you can choose the sort of error page which should appear - a default one from our system, a typical Apache server page or a personalized one. For the last mentioned option, you'll have to specify the URL to the page, so if you use customized pages, you need to upload the files in your web hosting account first. One other way is to use an .htaccess file located inside the domain or subdomain folder with a line for every error type. The actual syntax can be found in our Knowledge Base, so that you can use this feature even if you don't have any previous experience.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
All of the semi-dedicated servers
that we supply support custom made error pages and it will not take more than a few clicks inside your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option can be found in the Hosted Domains section of your CP where you'll need to input the links to the custom-made files using very simple drop-down menus and a user-friendly interface. Of course, you have to upload them inside your account before that. In case you don't need to use this feature at some point, you can easily deactivate it just as quickly and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be displayed when your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to activate the custom made error pages. The file should include a specific line of code plus a link for each error type and you can easily discover an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
